**Textbooks NO LONGER ACCEPTED after 4:01 p.m. on August 30; Student PASS accounts will be BILLED IN FULL**
UW-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County: Return textbooks during normal library hours and observe posted drop box schedule.
Textbooks may be returned at any time during the semester. Books are immediately due back when courses are dropped or a student withdraws from all courses. The deadline for book return is the last day of the published final exam period. All textbooks, CDs/DVDs, and clickers are to be returned to the Textbook Center by the due date.
If for any reason books cannot be returned in person, the books may be mailed to the Textbook Center at 1 University Plaza, Platteville, WI 53818. Books received after the due date will be subject to the late fee schedule. The Textbook Center is not responsible for any mailing delays. Please include payment of fines, where applicable, if you do not wish to be billed.
An "After Hours" Drop Box is available in the first floor lobby by the stairway to the Textbook Center while Doudna Hall is open. Note: The After Hours Drop Box is not available during Finals Week for the Spring and Fall sessions due to the large number of books being returned. Instead, the Textbook Center is open extended hours each day of Finals to allow students time to return books after those exams.
Deadlines for book return
- Fall and Spring Semesters: Last day of final exams. (The first 8-week session books must be returned immediately for the second 8-week session students.)
- Winterim (January): The following Monday by 4 p.m. after the last day of class.
- Summer: The following Wednesday by 4 p.m. after the last day of class.
Discounts do not apply on books kept past the applicable due date of each session. The non-refundable full price of the book(s) is due as billed. The textbook return due dates are governed by the class schedule published by the Registrar's Office.
All books are assigned a unique book number. If books and numbers do not match a student's account at the time of return, the person to whom the book was checked out is given credit for the return.
Late Book Return Policy
Books not returned by the published due date are subject to late penalties. Immediately following the published due date for book return, student accounts are billed the full price of unreturned books. If books are returned during the two-week late fee period, bills for books are canceled and late fees assessed.
Late Fees
- First week after the due date: $3.00 per book.
- Book returned in the After Hours Drop Box the first week after the due date: $5.00 per book.
- Second week after the due date: $5.00 per book.
- After the second week, books are no longer accepted for return, and the full amount is due as billed. Discounts do not apply.
The dates shown on the Textbook Center Policies form published each session and e-signed by students within their PASS account at time of book pickup govern the late fee schedule and take precedence over other published information regarding the return of properties to the Textbook Center.
Charge for Textbooks Not Shelved Correctly
Students will be charged a $3.00 per book restock fee for books not shelved correctly.
Textbook Returns for Dropped Course
If a student drops a course, textbooks must be returned immediately, even if the course is to be retaken the following semester, as another student in the class may not have a book. If a textbook is ordered to cover the shortage of books needed for a class, the student dropping the course and not returning the book within two (2) days of the drop will be charged the NON-REFUNDABLE full replacement cost of the book plus a $5 Processing Fee.
Textbook Returns for Withdrawal
Textbooks must be returned at time of withdrawal from all classes. If textbooks are not returned upon withdrawal, the price of the books are immediately billed to student accounts upon notification of the withdrawal from the Registrar's Office. Failure to return all books upon withdrawal could affect any refund given.
Textbook Returns for an Incomplete
Special arrangements should be made at the Textbook Center for books needed past the due date. It is the student's responsibility, not the instructor's, to advise the Textbook Center about books needed beyond the due date.
