The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wants you to have the tools to continuously improve your writing skills to prepare you for life and a livelihood. Writing is an essential skill and one prized by your future employers.

College Writing 

You will have an instructor that is a practicing writer and teacher who is committed to helping you learn to use writing to explore complex problems, and communicate your ideas effectively to a variety of audiences. Effective writing is essential in your personal, academic, and professional life.

Our courses encourage you to apply rhetorical approaches to new writing situations, to thoughtfully consider audience feedback, and to gain confidence in your writing skills by trusting your ability to polish your prose through repeated drafts.

The Writing Center

Looking for some help on that freshman composition paper? Do citations make you crazy? The Writing Center tutors will work one-on-one with you on any word-related needs.

Professional Writing Internships 

If you are an English major seeking the Professional Writing Emphasis, you must fulfill 3 credits of a writing/editing internship. The internship course is a variable credit course. You can take an internship for 1-credit, 2-credits, and up to 8 credits.

Three credits are required for the Professional Writing emphasis. You can do more than one internship. For example, either one 3-credit or more internship, or a 1-credit internship and a 2 credit internship will satisfy this requirement.
