Consortium Agreements
What is a Consortium Agreement and why might you need one?
Students may only receive federal financial aid at one institution at a time. A consortium agreement allows for students to include credits being taken at another institution in the credit load for aid.
It is an agreement between two institutions that one institution (Home) will provide financial aid for a course(s) taken at another institution (Host).
Students might use a consortium agreement when they are unable to be on campus and taking a course at another institution, participating in a program provided by two institutions, or they want to study abroad.

Impacts to Financial Aid
A consortium agreement does not guarantee that you will receive any additional financial aid, only that your off-campus credits will be used to determine your enrollment status and that you can use your already offered financial aid at another institution. Students in need of additional funding should consider a Plus Loan or private loan.
Internships and Co-ops at UW-Platteville
Co-ops and internships provide valuable real-world experiences that supplements formal academic classwork. You may be employed by industry and government organizations in positions related to your major field of study.
Students who are doing an internship or on a co-op are considered a full-time student by the financial aid office, so federal loans remain in deferment. If you are receiving aid beyond federal loans, we recommend for you to confirm your eligibility with the financial aid office as your ability to receive state funded aid or scholarships may be impacted.
For more information on various internship or co-op opportunities, contact your advisor in your academic college.
