Fee Descriptions
- Tuition: Supports the cost of instruction. Tuition charges are based on residency and major. Tuition also includes student-approved additional funding to support services designed to improve academic performance or the educational experience such as career, mental health, and safety services, and capstone projects.
- Registration Fee: A $35 flat fee charged each semester to students who enroll in classes.
- Segregated Fees (A): Segregated Fees Part A are fees assessed to students for services that support the primary mission of the university. These mandatory fees are on a per-credit basis with charges capped at 12 credits. These services include Health Care, Counseling Services, Student Center, Athletics, Intramural Sports, Student Activities, Municipal Services, Children’s Center, and ID Systems.
- Segregated Fees (B): Segregated Fees Part B are for Textbook Rental.
- Online Fee: Started in Fall 2021, a $50.00 per credit fee assessed to all students (except Distance campus students) for taking a class taught in an online format.
- Administrative Assessment Fee: A student who has not paid at least 34% of the total initial bill by the first due date of the Fall and Spring semester will be assessed a $50.00 Administrative Assessment Fee. A $25.00 Administrative Assessment Fee will be charged if 100% of the Winterim charges are not paid by the first due date for Winterim classes or 100% of summer charges are not paid by the first due date of the summer session.
- Universities of Wisconsin Placement Tests Fee: All new freshmen and transfer students are charged $45 for access to the University of Wisconsin Center for Placement Testing.
- New Student Experience Fee: The New Student Experience Fee is a fee required for new first-year students. The fee covers the cost of materials, student staff, orientation, and Welcome Weekend activities.
- Degree Assessment Fee: Students seeking a degree are assessed a $75 fee as they near graduation. The fee is based on the number of credits completed and covers the costs associated with the assessment of academic records, including degree audits, which occur during the final year of coursework. It is not associated with the completion of a degree.
