What you'll learn studying Spanish Education at UW-Platteville
Explore the Spanish language and Hispanic culture with the Spanish education degree program at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. You’ll examine topics that include the political, intellectual, artistic, and literary development of the Spanish nation, as well as grammar, composition, conversation, and reading in Spanish.
The Spanish Education program, offered through the Department of Humanities and the School of Education, will prepare you to teach Spanish or another subject. In addition to courses in Spanish, you’ll take courses within the School of Education, including TEACHING 4060 Teaching World Languages: Theory and Practice.
You will benefit from a well-rounded curriculum taught by highly-skilled and highly-trained professors when pursuing your bachelor’s degree in Spanish education or working towards a minor. Spanish teacher education instruction incorporates multiple styles of learning, including opportunities to immerse yourself in the language and culture in a Spanish-speaking country through study abroad programs. UW-Platteville offers access to more than 400 study abroad experiences.
You will complete courses in Spanish civilization and phonetics. If you choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Spanish education you also will complete philosophy coursework and choose 35 additional credits to round out the degree. As a Spanish education minor, you will choose 23 additional credit hours.
In addition to courses in elementary and intermediate Spanish, course options include Hispanic and Spanish American literature and culture, conversation and composition, supervised independent study, and a travel abroad seminar.
