Primary Facilities
Busby Hall of Engineering
Includes state-of-the-art Material Fabrication and Nano Characterization lab and a bio-medical engineering facility, along with dedicated lab space for large-scale design projects, engineering physics, physics, electrical engineering and general engineering.
Sesquicentennial Hall
The facility won one of the grand prizes in Learning by Design Magazine's Fall 2024 Architecture and Interior Design Awards of Excellence. SQH redefines engineering education by combining state-of-the-art research labs, flexible teaching spaces, and hands-on learning opportunities, exemplifying the concept of "Building as a Learning Tool."
UW-Platteville’s commitment to sustainable design and a greener campus are evident in the decision to seek LEED certification of Sesquicentennial Hall. LEED certification assures that our building will be at the forefront of sustainable design, emphasizing innovative concepts in building operations that create enhanced efficiency in water and energy usage, reduction in waste, and improved air quality.
Laboratories
Industrial Internet of Things Testbed
Controls
An electrical engineering laboratory used to teach automatic, modern, and discrete time control systems.
Environmental
This laboratory contains field equipment, instruments for measuring water quality of lakes and streams, an environmental chamber, and temperature and light-controlled incubators.
Fluid Mechanics
A civil engineering laboratory where students measure flow rates, pressures, and friction loss in pipes and flumes as well as the viscosity and density of different fluids.
Geotechnical Engineering
A mechanical engineering laboratory which contains instruments for testing soils to determine their engineering properties.
Instrumental Analysis
This laboratory is used to teach instrumental methods of analysis including electrochemical, spectrochemical, and chromatographic methods.
Material Fabrication and Nano Characterization
An engineering physics laboratory where students have the unique opportunity to directly study the nanoscale properties of different materials and structures.
Power and Energy
An electrical engineering laboratory used to teach converter systems (e.g. DC to AC power), three phase AC power, motor drives, and power distribution load flow and systems analysis.
Software Projects
Consisting of three computer laboratories in Ullrich Hall, these spaces are used to teach upper and lower-level computer science and software engineering courses.
