More than a dozen students traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border in January to participate in the TRIO, Student Support Services Border Immersion Trip to El Paso, Texas. Throughout the trip, students met with refugees, lawyers, federal agencies and nonprofit organizations to learn more about immigration policies and the legal system.
When Alex Walechka and Rebecca Koble enrolled in the online Master of Science in Engineering program in 2021, they went in with the expectation to attain an advanced degree in their area of specialty to improve their current careers and future job prospects, but they also found something more than advanced learning during their time in the program.

Dr. Phillip Gordon, associate professor of English, has helped facilitate the release of a new edition of a 1948 novel, “The Welcome,” by Hubert Creekmore. The novel, which has been out of print for more than 50 years, is being re-issued by the University Press of Mississippi this week and includes an introduction by Gordon.

In a ceremony today, officials from UW-Platteville and Madison College signed an updated agreement to expand engineering offerings to Madison College students. The new agreement will add UW-Platteville’s Bachelor of Science in industrial and systems engineering to the existing offerings for Madison College students.
