The annual University of Wisconsin-Platteville Alliant Energy Women in STEM Banquet is an evening of networking and celebration. The event brings industry sponsors, faculty, staff, alumni, and students together to recognize and honor the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The Women in STEM Banquet provides the perfect opportunity for networking and making connections, includes gifts for all graduating students, and speeches from graduating seniors and Alliant Energy.
Purpose and Goal
The overall purpose and goal of the Women in STEM Banquet is to improve retention, graduation, and placement rates of women students in STEM majors at UW-Platteville. This goal will be accomplished by:
- Honoring and celebrating the achievements of women in STEM fields at UW-Platteville. Providing encouragement, recognition, and support to women students is essential to creating and maintaining an inclusive learning environment where women prosper.
- Providing networking opportunities and professional connections for women STEM students. Exposure to career connections and opportunities in the field encourages long-term planning and a focus on the future. This larger picture contributes to persistence in STEM degrees and eventual employment in the field.
