Construction Career Day gives ninth–12th grade students exposure to the different career opportunities within the construction industry. Students will experience hands-on activities, and the opportunity to network with construction professionals and UW-Platteville faculty, students, and alumni. Students will also be given the opportunity to experience what a real construction site is like.

Career Pathways presented by ABC of Wisconsin The session is about the different career paths in construction. ABC of Wisconsin will also be going over opportunities and highlighting members. Tools of the Trades presented by Alliant Energy Are you looking to find out more about Alliant Energy and what tools their techs use? If so this is the session for you, as Alliant Energy techs will be going over the tools they use for gas system construction, operation, and maintenance. Torch & Welding presented by AZCO Have you ever wondered what industry construction is all about? If so, this session is for you. Come experience welding, torching metal, and learn about the tools in this industry. Survey Technology presented by BuildingPoint Come stop by BuildingPoint to learn about all the new technology they have for the construction field. Tic Tac Toe presented by C.D. Smith Construction Put your carpentry skills to test! If you aren’t familiar with using a drill and a measuring tape, we’ll help you out! If you’re experienced in both, let’s see how fast you can create the family fun game of Tic Tac Toe. Innovation Trailer presented by Gaylor Electric Our walkthrough of the trailer will be a career exploration event aimed at showing students how we meet the education needs of our workforce with the Training Trailer. We will also provide insight on the career opportunities available with Gaylor Electric, nationwide apprenticeship opportunities through ABC, and provide information on our high school and college summer internship events. Construction Technology presented by Hensel Phelps Come check out this technology session with Hensel Phelps. They will be presenting on the construction technology they use in the field. 360 Cameras presented by Horizon Retail Construction Come and learn how to use a 360 Camera! Technology is moving fast everywhere, including the jobsite. By utilizing the 360 cameras, we can record and relay all stages of construction from the field to the office and beyond. From photos to videos and the apps they correspond with, you can gain experience with this quick demonstration. Rigging presented by Kraemer North America Have you ever wondered what it would be like to move material around on a job site? If so, this is a session for you. You will be able to rig material up for the crane to pick and see if it was a success. You also will get to meet the professors who teach in the program. Exploring Electric and Natural Gas Utility Operations presented by Michels This hands on demo includes opportunities for students to see how electric and gas utilities are constructed and operated. Students will be able to try on the PPE gear, operate tools and ask our technicians questions about the work they perform every day. Be sure to ask about key job responsibilities and apprenticeships. Concrete Pump Truck presented by Milis Flatwork Want to learn about a concrete pump truck? If check out this session as you will learn about the pump truck and concrete flat work. Masonry Activity presented by Miron Construction Get hands-on experience in masonry in this session. Learn how to lay brick and block by hand and with state-of-the-art technology called MULEs with Miron Construction. Electrical Hands-on Experience presented by Pieper Power Ever wonder what an electrician does?
