Construction Career Day gives students exposure to the different career opportunities within the construction industry. Students will experience hands-on activities, and the opportunity to network with construction professionals and UW-Platteville faculty, students, and alumni. Students will also be given the opportunity to experience what a real construction site is like. The event is geared towards ninth–12th grade students, but all are welcome.

Participation in this event will be first come, first served, and is limited to registered professionals and teachers.

Day in the Life of a Construction Professional presented by event sponsor CG Schmidt Want to know what it is like to work in construction? If so, this is the session for you. You will be able to ask a panel of construction professional about what their job is like and why they went into the career path they did. Fire Simulator presented by the Platteville Fire Department Come join the Platteville Department to learn P.A.S.S.! This is a fun way to learn how to use a fire extinguisher and fire safety. Fire Engine presented by the Platteville Fire Department Ever wonder what it would be like to be a fire fighter? If so this is the session for you. Campus Tour presented by UW-Platteville Office of Admissions and Recruitment Want to see more of our university? Follow the expert on a student-led tour of our beautiful campus. Excavator Demonstration presented by UW-Platteville Construction Management Program Professors Would you like to run an excavator? If so, this is the session for you to try your skills at operating an excavator. VR & AR Technology presented by UW-Platteville Construction Management Programs This session will demonstrate how the construction industry is moving towards virtual reality and augmented reality to design, build, and plan their construction projects. ICF Construction presented by UW-Platteville Construction Management Programs Come learn about Green Building Design. You will get to assemble insulated concrete forms in fun patterns. Safety Lab Tour & Fall Protection presented by UW-Platteville Construction Safety Management Program Professors Come tour our safety lab and try out all the safety equipment our industry professional use.
